Valentina Bogatyreva, the Rector of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, took part in the award ceremony of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to gifted Belarusian youth studying Chinese language, which took place on December 18th in Minsk, on the basis of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education.

The ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Bahanovich, the leadership of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, rectors of universities, principals of schools and gymnasiums, directors of Confucius Institutes, Chinese language teachers, and students and schoolchildren studying Chinese language and culture.

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus organized this award ceremony for the eighth time in order to strengthen friendship between China and Belarus, as well as to further develop exchanges and cooperation in the field of education between the two countries, strengthen the social and public basis of friendly relations, stimulate interest in the study of the Chinese language and culture, and encourage Belarusian students who have shown success in studying the Chinese language. After rigorous selection, 36 students from different universities and schools were awarded this honor.

“An increasing number of Belarusian youth taking part and demonstrating high achievements in national and international competitions and Chinese Language Olympiads, as well as the interest of Belarusian youth in the qualifying rounds of the "Chinese Language Bridge" competition in the Republic of Belarus. This allows us to note with satisfaction that this work, with the active support of the Chinese side, brings its benefits fruits. At the same time, we cannot fail to be pleased by the fact that the work on studying the official languages of the two countries is carried out on a mutual basis," noted the First Deputy Minister.

Within the framework of the event, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov was awarded a diploma as an exemplary educational institution for teaching Chinese language in 2023.
