History:

The Faculty of Art and Graphics was organized on September 1, 1959 on the basis of the Vitebsk Art and Graphic Pedagogical School and became a true keeper and continuer of the traditions of the Vitebsk Art School. Many of the alumni, who were left to work at the faculty, defended doctoral and PhD dissertations, became heads of the faculty and departments.

The teaching process at the faculty is based not only on the traditions of the national art school, but also on the advanced international experience, the world practice of the development of the fine arts.

Over the years of its existence, the faculty has graduated specialists who successfully work in almost all branches of education, economy and production both in the Republic of Belarus and in various foreign countries.

Currently, the main task of the faculty is to train teachers, teachers-artists for educational and cultural establishments, artists of decorative and applied arts and designers.

  • Department of Decorative and Applied Arts and Technical Graphics;
  • Department of Design;
  • Department of Pedagogy.

Specialties:

The faculty prepares students for the 1st stage of higher education in the following specialties:

  1. Fine Arts and Computer Graphics. Qualification: Teacher-artist.
  2. Fine Arts, Drawing and Folk Crafts. Qualification: Educator. Artist. Teacher
  3. Design (Object and Space Design). Qualification: Designer.
  4. Decorative and Applied Arts (Wood). Qualification: Artist of Decorative and Applied Arts. Teacher.  
  5. Decorative and Applied Arts (Ceramics). Qualification: Artist of Decorative and Applied Arts. Teacher.

The specialties of the 2nd stage of higher education with the assignment of the academic degree “Master”:

Alumni today is a creative person who understands the importance of the tasks before him. This is necessarily a person who is competent in various areas of the development of modern culture and arts, who knows how to integrate his knowledge into the practice of art education. An alumnus of the Faculty of Arts and Graphics is a demanded specialist in modern society who can work in many sectors of the economy, in the fields of art, culture and education.
