As part of the "Pskov Region. Russia Starts Here" competition, students and staff from Masherov University embarked on an international study tour to Pskov and the Pskov region. The program was rich and diverse in content.
The journey began with a briefing on the "More Than a Journey" project, after which the students visited Pushkinskiye Gory, where they toured the Svyatogorsky Monastery and the grave of A.S. Pushkin. Pushkinskiye Gory is a remarkable place, filled not only with picturesque nature but also with profound cultural heritage. This land, connected with the great poet's name, is permeated with creative spirit. Visiting the museum-reserve where one can see the poet's personal belongings revealed new facets of his life and work. The walk through the garden and visit to Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin's grave made the encounter with his legacy particularly touching. Lunch at the "Pushkin-Park" café perfectly concluded the first day, and in the evening students enjoyed the immersive performance "Pskov Traditions" that immersed them in local culture.
The second day started with a city tour of Pskov including the Kremlin visit. The excursion offered splendid views of the Velikaya River and surrounding landscapes. The city blends ancient traditions with modernity, leaving visitors with lasting impressions. The group also participated in a workshop at the "Youth House" making toys for stray animals, adding special meaning to the visit. The trip to "Lesopilka" animal shelter was a heartwarming experience of helping animals.
To conclude the program, the Masherov University delegation visited Ostrov and Nevel, gaining new knowledge through tours and workshops. The visit to the Great Patriotic War Museum in Nevel left students with profound and moving memories. Housed in a cozy building, the museum's atmosphere makes visitors feel the importance of its exhibits. Particularly touching were the displays dedicated to local residents who fought at the front. Their life stories and destinies, presented through personal letters and memoirs, allow one to sense the spirit of that time and understand the importance of remembering heroic deeds. The guides' commentaries added depth of understanding by providing additional details and context that help better comprehend history.
Each day was filled with meaningful activities and opportunities to learn more about the region's culture and history. The students expressed gratitude to the university administration and organizers for this wonderfully planned journey!
