On June 22, a solemn launch of the patriotic cultural and educational project "Memory Train – 2025," dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Victory, took place in Brest. The train's route includes 8 cities in Belarus and 7 cities in Russia. The participants are representatives from all the former Soviet republics who contributed to the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Before the start of the grand journey, the participants were met by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Ivanovna Kochanova, who spoke with the young people in an open microphone format.
To embark on this fascinating train route, 12,650 tenth-grade students participated in a competition. However, only 200 school students were given this chance. As a result of the selection process, over 40 of the best participants were chosen from the Republic of Belarus, among them Ekaterina Yatusevich, a student at the Lyceum of P.M. Masherov VSU:
– The opportunity to participate in this competition was presented to me thanks to my studies at the Lyceum of P.M. Masherov VSU. For each stage of the competition, it was necessary to prepare and present an essay, a portfolio, and a self-introduction video that fully reflected personal achievements and motivation for participating in this project. When performing at the regional and republican stages, I was very nervous, but I had a support group that was with me all the time and didn't let me doubt my abilities.
After receiving a first-degree winner's diploma, I waited with excitement until the last moment for the list of winners from the Vitebsk region, because I knew that the number of participants would be only six people and that the selection would be difficult for the jury, as all the candidates are very deserving young people. And how great was my joy when I saw myself among the participants!
For me, this is an opportunity to learn more about history, pay tribute to all the war heroes and my great-grandfather, thanks to whom we have a peaceful sky above us today, to see the sights of other cities, and to make new friends. I am sure that in the future I will remember this project with pride and vivid emotions, because becoming a part of it is amazing! None of this would have been possible without the people involved in my preparation: the Director of the P.M. Masherov VSU Lyceum, university staff, talented students, and, of course, my classmates! Special thanks to my family, because reliable support is one of the keys to success.
