On November 21st, an international scientific and educational roundtable discussion, «The Great Patriotic War: Preserving Historical Memory and Countering Attempts to Falsify History», was held at P.M. Masherov VSU. The event was held in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Among the distinguished guests from the Russian Federation was Vera Yemelyanova, First Deputy Governor of the Pskov Region. Vera Vasilyevna congratulated the VSU staff on the 115th anniversary of its founding and thanked the Masherovites for preserving cultural and historical memory.

He spoke about the anniversary celebration, outstanding graduates and labor veterans of our alma mater First Vice-Rector of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov Andrey Mekhovich.Vice-Rector for Research at our university, Evgeny Arshansky He noted that VSU named after P.M. Masherov and PskovSU have been reliable partners and true friends for many years. Thanks to the productive collaboration between our two higher education institutions, joint research projects are being successfully implemented and clear prospects for further cooperation have been outlined.

During the round table, the following representatives of VSU presented their reports: Alexander Kosov, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Cultural Heritage, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor («Participation of Representatives of the Republics of the Soviet Union in the Partisan Movement During the Great Patriotic War in Belarus»); Ekaterina Plytnik, Associate Professor of the Department of Fine Arts, Candidate of Cultural Studies («Preservation of Historical Memory and Patriotic Education of Youth through the Organization of Cultural and Mass Events with a Tourist Focus»); Anna Pasternak, Senior Lecturer of the Department of History and Cultural Heritage («The Role of M.F. Shmyrev in Organizing the Partisan Movement in the Vitebsk Region»); Ruslan Stelmakh, 2nd year student of the Federal State Historical and Patriotic Heritage University («Activities of the Vitebsk Regional Historical and Patriotic Search Club «Flame» in Reconstructing the Events of the Great Patriotic War»).

Young scientists from Pskov State University also presented their scientific research at the meeting.
