"Psychological Aspects of Intellectual and Emotional Reflection in Participants in the Educational Process" was the title of an international roundtable discussion held at the Faculty of Professional and Emotional Studies and Policy on December 10th. Scholars from higher education institutions in Belarus and Russia participated in the discussions, which took place in person, online, and remotely.
Evgeny Arshansky, Vice-Rector for Research at VSU, welcomed the participants of the scientific forum, which was dedicated to the 115th anniversary of our university. He noted that holding such a roundtable is a good tradition for the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology, and that interest in this event among scientists has not waned with each passing year. This is not surprising, since, according to Evgeny Arshansky, an international roundtable is an excellent discussion platform for discussing various issues in psychological science and an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and test the results obtained. This is important for both experienced scientists and those researchers just taking their first steps in science.
Longtime friends and partners of the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology—representatives of the Vitebsk State Technical College, the Vitebsk Regional Center for Correctional and Developmental Education and Rehabilitation, and other organizations—also delivered welcoming remarks at the plenary session. In particular, Svetlana Sannikova, Director of the Vitebsk Social Nursing Home "Na Dvina," noted that a branch of the VSU Psychology Department has been operating at the home for four years now, where students successfully apply their acquired theoretical knowledge and gain experience that will certainly be useful in their future professional endeavors.
Following the opening ceremony, Belarusian and Russian researchers presented their papers. Among them was Tatyana Mamina, PhD in Psychology and senior researcher at the Institute of Cognitive Research at St. Petersburg State University. Mamina presented a paper on sensorimotor education and shared her impressions:
"Today I visited VSU for the first time, firstly to share my research experience, and secondly, I was very curious to learn how everything is organized here. I would like to point out that our institute is open to collaboration; we are ready to discuss any possible cooperation and are confident it will be fruitful and mutually beneficial."
The conference continued in sections:
- "The main directions and trends in the development of psychology in the Republic of Belarus and in the Russian Federation";
- "Modern psychology in the system of multidisciplinarity";
- "Methodological approaches to the problem of intellectual and emotional reflection among participants in the educational process";
