«Creative Economy: Revitalizing National Culture and Improving the Quality of Life in the Commonwealth countries» was the title of a roundtable discussion held on July 17 as part of the «Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk» festival and in accordance with the activities of the CIS Basic Organization for Creative Industries, Convention and Exhibition Activities, and Hospitality (St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov).
In a remote format, scientists discussed prospects for cooperation between Commonwealth countries in the context of developing a creative economy; the foundations for sustainable development of creative industries; the potential for implementing creative approaches at the state level to revive folk culture, ensure its economic effectiveness, and ultimately improve the quality of life of regional residents; and other aspects.
The roundtable was moderated by Evgeny Arshansky, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, and Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, and Elena Gorbashko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at St. Petersburg State University of Economics.
Elena Anatolyevna welcomed the roundtable participants, thanked Valentina Bogatyreva and Evgeny Arshansky for their collaboration and the excellent organization of the scientific event, and read a message from Igor Maksimtsev, Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Professor, who noted the importance and relevance of the issues discussed at the scientific forum.
In turn, Evgeny Yakovlevich presented a video message from Valentina Bogatyreva, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Rector of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, and read a greeting on her behalf, which spoke, among other things, of the value of academic partnership and good-neighborly relations with St. Petersburg University of Economics.
Following this, the roundtable discussion began, with presentations by representatives of partner universities, the Secretariat of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee, the State Hermitage Museum, and other organizations.
Eduard Pavlysh, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Information Technologies and Business Management presented a report titled «The University as a Link Between Science, Culture, and Quality of Life», and Elena Yankevich, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor at the same department presented a report titled «Regional Cultural Industry as a Factor in the Development of Tourism Destinations».
