On April 12, an International Youth Round Table was held in honor of the International Day of Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps (April 11), organized by the Student Research and Innovation Laboratory "Great Patriotic War: History and Memory". The round table was part of a larger event – the All-Russian Scientific Conference "History of the Second World War: Controversial Issues of Study – 2024", organized by the Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) in collaboration with Pskov State University (Russia) and Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov, in the context of the activities of the Network Scientific and Educational Laboratory "Russian-Belarusian Center for the Study of the Second World War".

The moderators of the international discussion platform, which operated remotely, were the Head of the Department of History and Cultural Heritage, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Anatoly Nikolaevich Dulov, and a third-year student of the Faculty of Humanities and Language Studies Lina Khvedchenya. Participants included students and graduate students, as well as faculty members from Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov and Francisk Skorina Gomel State University (Belarus), Pskov State University, Southern Federal University, State Humanitarian-Technological University (Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Moscow Region), Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University, Stavropol State Pedagogical Institute (Russian Federation), and Termez State University (Republic of Uzbekistan).

The tone of the event was set by a presentation from an expert, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Dzhalalitdin Zaynievich Mirzaev, who spoke about the heroism of Red Army soldiers from Uzbekistan shown in Nazi captivity. Various aspects of Hitler's genocidal policy in the occupied territories of Belarus and Russia were discussed, as well as the investigation of Nazi crimes and the preservation of the memory of war victims. Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov was represented by students from the Faculty of Humanities and Language Studies: first-year student Daniil Tolstov, who spoke about the implementation of the General Plan Ost in Belarus (using Vitebsk region as an example), and third-year student Alina Khripach, who drew attention to the disclosure of the problem of moral choice of a person in an extreme situation in military prose by Vasil Bykov.

The moderator of the university discussion platform, in which students of the Faculty of Humanities and Language Studies participated, was Elizaveta Petrovna Shramuk, a lecturer from the Department of History and Cultural Heritage. Students prepared reports on the implementation of the General Plan Ost and the organization of concentration camps in the occupied territories. For instance, a report was presented based on unique memories of prisoners from the Ozarichi complex in Polesye region (Polina Letyago, third-year student majoring in History and Socian Sciences), and the systematization of museum collections detailing the events in the Gorodok Ghetto (Arhip Dorozhkin, third-year student majoring in History and Socian Sciences). The session also featured memories of a concentration camp prisoner from a family archive (Yulia Yakimova, third-year student). The participants highlighted major operations for the liberation of concentration camps, activities to preserve the memory of genocide victims, and events held in the Republic of Belarus as part of the investigation into Nazi crimes.
