From January 30 to February 2 the open international tournament “Baltic Muay Thai Open 2020” was held in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius. 350 athletes from 18 countries took part in the competition. The head of the VSU sports club Golovinets O.V. joined the national team as a judge.

The folk male choir of VSU and “Resonance-Chance” team took part in the VI International Online Festival CYBERART 2020. The purpose of the festival is to provide an opportunity for creative groups and individual performers to participate remotely in the international competition of musical creativity.

On December 28 VSU students took part in Viennese Ball, which was held at Independence Palace. Students and those who are to choose a future career danced waltz. Everyone has already achieved special success in study, creativity and came out in elite sport.
On January 30 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko agreed on the appointment of Valentina Bogatyreva for a position of rector. Valentina Bogatyreva is Doctor of Economic Sciences and Full Professor. The personnel issue was considered at Independence Palace in Minsk.

About 600 children from 32 schools and gymnasiums of Vitebsk and Vitebsk region took part in educational quest aiming at career guidance. Quest “VSU Start” was held at our university on December 14. Pupils of forms 9-11 could show their ingenuity, knowledge in various fields and teamwork skills.
On May 21-22, the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Law in the Digital Age» is being held at VSU's Faculty of Law. Experts from Belarus and Russia discuss contemporary legal issues in the context of the transition to a digital civilization.
The final, but no less action-packed, day of the International Student Forum is underway at VSU. A joint exhibition of students' creative works opened in the Faculty of Fine Arts' exhibition hall.
From May 19 to 21, VSU is hosting the International Student Forum «We Are United by Culture», organized by Vitebsk State University and the Russian University of Traditional Arts and Crafts.
VSU named after P.M. Masherov organized an Open Day remotely, targeting students from Hohhot Polytechnic University, with whom VSU has collaborated for over 18 years.
On May 6, Alexey Shmatko, Director of the Institute of Regional Economic Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, and Professor, spoke online to students of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov in our university's conference hall.
On April 30, the VSU team set out on a journey, continuing the glorious and long-loved tradition of the annual «Roads of War – Roads of Victory» rally, together with a good friend of the university and the project's organizer, Eduard Tereshko.
Navruz, the celebration of the arrival of spring according to the astronomical solar calendar, is a national holiday in Turkmenistan. It symbolizes the awakening of new life and the return of warmth after a long cold spell.
VSU welcomed a delegation from St. Petersburg State University and the Centralized Library System. As part of the working program, a roundtable discussion was held on the exchange of best practices in teaching, research, and educational activities.
On February 24, the VSU Rector held talks with the leadership of the Russian University of Traditional Arts and Crafts. The goal was to discuss the prospects of organizing a joint International Student Forum.
